Account Help: Selling Shares
Selling shares online requires that you sign up for electronic funds transfer (EFT). See the page on EFT for more information on how to sign up for this option.

Once you have logged in, you will see a list of all of your Firsthand Funds accounts: non-retirement, IRA, etc. Follow these simple steps to sell shares online:
Step 1. Click the "SELL" link to the far right, under the "Trade" column for the Fund you wish to sell.
This will bring you to the Sell Fund screen.
Step 2. Enter your transaction amount/shares
Enter the dollar amount you wish to sell. Because online sales may only be in whole numbers (no fractions), you do not need to include decimal points. You may also enter a number of shares instead of dollar amount.
Important Note: Minimums and maximums apply to online transactions. See the Online Minimums/Maximums page for details. If you enter an amount outside of the min-max range, you will see the Purchase Verification page; however, when you confirm this by clicking Continue, you will get a Transaction Error page. If this occurs, simply click the Back button on your browser to return to the Purchase Verification page and click Cancel. This will bring you back to your main account page and you may start the transaction over.
Step 3. Select your payment method
You may choose to have the transaction proceeds sent to you by check or via ACH.
Step 4. Confirm your transaction
Clicking the Execute button will take you to the final step in the transaction process. You will be presented with a verification screen, summarizing your transaction.

Clicking the Cancel button will void the transaction and bring you back to the main page. If you choose to complete the transaction by clicking the OK button, you will be brought to the Sell Acknowledgement screen, letting you know when your purchase will be processed1 and giving you a transaction reference number. You may wish to print a copy of this page for your records. For your convenience, you will also receive a confirmation statement of all online transactions in the mail.

If you wish to make another transaction, click the Close button, and you will be brought back to the main account page.

You'll notice that there is a "Trade Inquiry" link on the left-hand menu. Selecting this option will take you to a page summarizing any pending transactions on this account, including the one you just confirmed. Please note: Once you confirm a trade online, the only way to cancel this trade is by calling Shareholder Services at 1.888.884.2675, option 4, before the close of the NYSE (normally 4:00 P.M. Eastern Time) the day the trade is placed. For trades placed after 4:00 P.M. ET, shareholders have until 4:00 P.M. the following day to cancel. If you have canceled a trade with them, this cancellation will appear on the Trade Inquiry page.
If you do not wish to make any further transactions at this time, click the "Log Out" link on the left-hand menu, which will log you out of the online transaction area.

Transactions made before the close of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) (normally 4:00 P.M. Eastern Time) will be processed after the market closes that same day. All other transactions will be processed after the close on the day the NYSE is next open for trading.
