Electronic Funds Transfer

Electronic Funds Transfer

Required to buy shares online

To buy shares online, you'll need to sign up for the electronic funds transfer option on your account(s). To do this, you must:

Download an Account Services form and complete the EFT section.

Please note that this form requires a signature guarantee. Firsthand accepts only STAMP 2000 Medallion signature guarantee stamps. A signature guarantee can only be provided by your bank, broker, or credit union that participates in a Securities Transfer Agents Medallion Program (STAMP); a notary public cannot provide a signature guarantee. Many of these institutions do not charge customers for this service. Do not get the document dated; a dated signature guarantee is good only for that day.

Verification takes approximately 14 business days, and EFT transactions cannot be conducted during that time. You must have transaction authority on both your Firsthand Funds account and your designated bank account in order to use EFT. Additionally, restrictions on retirement accounts make them ineligible for EFT redemptions.

You will receive confirmation in the mail that your EFT feature has been established. Once your EFT option is activated, you're ready to login to your account and begin conducting transactions online.

Medallion Signature Guarantees

  • A signature guarantee is a valuable safeguard to protect you and the Funds from fraud. You can get a signature guarantee from most banks, broker-dealers, credit unions, national securities exchanges, registered securities associations, clearing agencies, and savings associations. A notary public cannot provide a signature guarantee. Firsthand accepts only STAMP 2000 Medallion Signature Guarantee Stamps.
