Mission
World Resources Institute (WRI) is an independent, environmental think tank that goes beyond research to find practical ways to protect the Earth and improve people’s lives. We measure our success by the changes we help governments, businesses, institutions, and individuals make to protect natural resources while advancing economic opportunity.
Four Goals
1.
Guarantee public access to information and decisions regarding natural resources.
2.
Protect the global climate system from further harm due to emissions of greenhouse gasses, and help society and the natural world to adapt to unavoidable climate change.
3.
Harness markets and enterprise to expand economic opportunity and protect the environment.
4.
Reverse the rapid degradation of ecosystems and assure their capacity to provide us with needed goods and services.
Our Approach
Our approach is built on the conviction that change is possible, knowledge is powerful, and people can make a difference. Virtually everything we do includes four elements:
